Hopping over obstacles CAN be easy — yes, even if you’ve struggled for years, ride an e-MTB, are in your 40s–70s, or don’t fit the “pro rider” stereotype.
Most adults find learning the bunny hop frustrating.
And honestly? That’s completely normal.
It’s one of the most misunderstood skills in mountain biking, usually taught by riders who learned it as kids, with bodies, strength, and reflexes that don’t match yours (or mine).
I know exactly how it feels to fight for it: the frustration of not being able to connect the moves, the “my bike just won’t come up” moment… all of it.
Instead of forcing you into a technique designed for 20-year-old pros, this course uses a step-by-step, adult-friendly progression that works for:
Women (yes, even if you’re petite or don't feel “strong enough”)
Riders 40–80+
E-MTB riders
Riders with 29" bikes and newer geometries (yes, they're harder to hop!)
Anyone who’s tried before and thought “I just can’t do this.”
Now imagine this instead: You roll toward a root, a rut, or a log…
and instead of slowing down or hopping off your bike, you just glide over it. Controlled, and confident.
That’s exactly what this course delivers — bunny hops that work for real riders, not pros.
After this course, you'll just smoothly glide over them 😍
Learning to bunny hop isn’t about showing off, it’s about giving your body and brain exactly what they need as a mountain biker.
Counteracts age-related decline:
After 35, we naturally lose power, speed, and fast-twitch muscle fibers. Bunny-hop training brings them back. It’s one of the most effective forms of natural plyometrics and power work on the bike.
Supports women in peri-/postmenopause:
Hormonal shifts reduce muscle mass, bone density, and reaction speed. Bunny hop training stimulates bone, rebuilds strength, and reactivates those quick neuromuscular responses that start to fade — all without a gym.
It’s coordination training at its best:
A good bunny hop is timing, reaction, pressure control, and body awareness working together. In neuroscience terms: it’s “brain jogging”. You create new neural pathways and keep the old ones sharp — the best anti-aging tool we have.
It makes you safer on trails:
You’re not just learning a trick — you’re learning how to clear roots, puddles, ruts, and obstacles without panic braking or risking an OTB. It’s confidence and control in a single skill.
Perfect for e-MTB riders:
Heavier bikes demand better technique. This course teaches hop mechanics that don’t rely on brute force, so you stay fluid, stable, and capable on technical terrain.
Short version:
A bunny hop keeps you younger, sharper, safer — opens up lines on the trail you never thought you’d ride and turns every "boring" beginner trail into a fun jump trail!
Imagine how much playfulness this skill will add to your trails!
▪️Master the two most useful and easiest types of manual front wheel lift as a foundation for a great bunny hop
▪️Understand all the elements and movement phases of a high bunny hop
▪️Spot and fix the most common mistakes that prevent progress (and confidence!)
▪️Jump sideways over trail ruts or puddles with a simple, dynamic technique
▪️Learn the Bunny Flop: Your intro to landing with front-wheel contact first (yes, that’s a real skill)
▪️Perform a “true” bunny hop: Controlling and angulating your bike in the air
▪️Clear obstacles on the trail with control and style.
▪️Use coordination + strength drills specifically designed to prepare your body for hopping success
▪️Safely jump onto and off of ledges and obstacles: A key trail skill for flow and confidence
▪️Understand why women often need a different approach to bunny hops (and how to avoid the “thief of joy” when comparing yourself to others).

(Spoiler: not much😇)
This course is for adult mountain bikers of all levels who want to learn or refine their bunny hop technique in a safe, step-by-step manner to hop over ruts, logs or other obstacles.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to hop small obstacles or an advanced rider aiming to perfect your bunny hop form, the course is tailored to meet your needs.
Most bunny hop tutorials focus on demonstrating the final form – the "finished product" of the bunny hop – without breaking down how to actually get there. This can leave many riders feeling frustrated or stuck, especially if they’re trying to learn the skill as adults.
What makes this course unique is its step-by-step, methodical approach tailored specifically for adult learners. We don’t just show you what a bunny hop looks like; we guide you through every phase of the movement with clear, progressive drills that build your skills incrementally.
Each drill focuses on a specific component of the bunny hop – this means you’ll never feel overwhelmed, and you’ll always know exactly what to practice next.
Our experience as full-time international instructor trainers has taught us that adults learn best when skills are broken into manageable steps, and that’s exactly how we’ve designed this course. With a focus on safe, structured learning, you’ll build confidence and competence at your own pace – no guesswork, no unnecessary crashes, just real progress.
To reach this goal, this course uses our unique 4C-Methodology:
Control: Developing bike and body control as the foundation. This takes time and is impossible within a single day - just like learning a language isn't.
Coordination: Breaking down complex movements into manageable steps for adult learners and allowing your body the time it needs to build these movement patterns.
Competence: Drills to build consistent and reliable technique.
Confidence: Ensuring you feel secure at every stage before advancing.
Our full-time coaching experience, including training Olympic athletes and certifying other mountain bike instructors worldwide, ensures the drills are scientifically designed for maximum effectiveness and safety.
While in-person coaching has its benefits, this self-paced online course offers several key advantages, especially when it comes to learning and mastering a complex skill like the bunny hop:
Self-Paced Learning for Long-Term Progress:
Science shows that motor learning – the process of building new movement patterns – takes time and repetition. It’s not something that can be mastered in just one day. With an in-person session, you might feel like you’ve learned a lot in the moment, but without the ability to revisit and practice progressively, much of that knowledge fades.
With this online course, you can move at your own pace, revisit drills as often as needed, and practice consistently over weeks or months – the timeframes necessary to truly engrain these skills into muscle memory.
Structured, Repeatable Practice:
This course is built on a proven step-by-step methodology, allowing you to focus on one aspect of the bunny hop at a time. Instead of cramming everything into a single day, you can spread out your learning and ensure each drill becomes second nature before moving on to the next.
Accessible Anytime, Anywhere:
Unlike an in-person course that happens on a specific date and location, this course gives you lifetime access. You can fit your practice sessions around your schedule, repeat sections whenever you need, and take as much time as necessary to master the skill.
By following the structured progressions in this course and committing to regular practice, you’ll experience more consistent and lasting improvements than what’s typically possible in a one-off in-person session. Plus, you avoid the time and cost of travel while still benefiting from a professional, methodical approach tailored to adult learners.
This course is created by full-time, internationally recognized mountain bike instructors who have trained thousands of riders, including Olympic athletes and other professional coaches.
Our experience ensures you’re learning from trusted experts who know how to deliver results safely and effectively.
In addition, this is not just an "online course". The course includes a fully personalised video feedback from us to adapt the moves to your weight, height, bike and age!
Yes! We’ve worked with riders of all levels – from complete beginners to seasoned pros – and understand the challenges faced by riders of different heights, strengths, and confidence levels. Our feedback-based courses have helped hundreds of riders worldwide improve their skills and have more fun on the bike. And if you bring some unique challenges we actually LOVE this - because it means we can grow together 😍
Yes! We’ve included specific adaptations for shorter riders to help you master the bunny hop without struggling. We address the unique challenges shorter riders face and provide solutions to make the technique more accessible.
Bunny hopping is more about timing, coordination, and technique than brute strength. The course teaches you how to use your bike’s geometry and momentum effectively, so strength is not per se a limiting factor. However, the course also includes specific strength training exercises for the bunny hop - as your strength does make the bunny hop easier and enable you to hop higher!
Yes! We’ve designed the course with women in mind, addressing common challenges like lower upper body strength, shorter limbs, and confidence barriers. We provide step-by-step guidance and include tips that help women riders progress faster while feeling supported.
Progress depends on your starting point and how often you practice, but with consistent practice 1–2 times per week, you’ll see significant improvement in just a few sessions. The drills are structured so you can progress at your own pace and revisit them as needed.
Many riders struggle with bunny hops because they skip foundational steps, have false expectations (like being able to learn to bunny hop within a day) or rely on incorrect advice. Our course breaks the skill into clear, manageable drills that build progressively. Each drill targets specific components of the bunny hop, so you’ll know exactly what to work on and how to correct common mistakes.
Additionally, we've reverse engineered pro bunny hops and found some unique tweaks that we see missing in other tutorials and clinics.
No, you can practice the drills in a safe, flat space like your driveway, yard, or local park. This makes it easy to build skills without needing a challenging trail environment - and makes the course ideal for winter!
You’ll have lifetime access, so you can revisit the drills, refresh your skills, or practice at your own pace whenever it suits you.
If you know how, where and what exactly to practice.
Profit from YEARS of full-time coaching: Work with the drills I use to train pro riders and other instructors - optimised for adult riders and my personalized feedback.

💪 No one learns a true bunny hop in a one-day-clinic - just like no one builds a biceps in a day...
🧠 However, by practicing over several weeks, you'll allow your body and brain the TIME they really need.
📶 How? Follow my proven, methodical and precise drills. Through structured PRACTICE and personalised feedback your body can turn what you know into what you DO.
➡️ With the right drills for your body, in the right order, progress comes naturally.
When I started to learn bunny hops, I had a coach who taught me movements that did NOT work...
I practiced and practiced and practiced, because he said "that's all it takes".
BUT - if you're practicing the wrong things, you're just wasting time by practicing them over and over and over.
And that's what I did. (And many people do...)
Until, one day, I noticed the people I thought were coaches, actually were NOT. They were amazing riders, but they were NOT coaches.
A real coach analyses and teaches movement patterns, which don't just lead to short-time FAKE PROGRESS, but to long-term real progress.
🤩🥳 After finally practicing the RIGHT drills, within a short time, I finally learnt the bunny hop. And you can now profit from my struggles!
